THE STILLNESS THAT SAVES — FINDING GOD IN THE QUIET WITHIN

Text: Psalm 46:10 — “Be still, and know that I am God.” Stillness. A small word. A hard practice. In a world that glorifies speed, productivity, noise, and endless motion, stillness feels almost unnatural—like fighting the current of a restless river. Yet the One who designed the human soul whispers into the chaos: “Be still…” Not “be strong.” Not “figure it out.” Not “pray harder.” Just…  be still . The Hebrew phrase  harpu  literally means “let go,” “release,” “relax your grip.” It is the image of a clenched fist slowly opening, of shoulders dropping after too much tension, of a soul exhaling after holding its breath for too long. It is God saying,  “Lay it down. I’ll carry it from here.” 1.
